Description

  • French oak
  • Cherry & blueberry
  • Dark chocolate
  • Silky tannins

"Rich, velvet texture with intense cassis, blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, and smoky oak flavours supported by soft, silken tannins that contribute toward the wine's surprisingly lengthy finish. Very classy Pinot" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jul 2022

"Aromas of ripe red berries led by dark cherry and plum. Layers of baking spice from barrel along with an earthy silty soil quality add comlexity and breadth. Yourthul with a fine complexity. Delicious on the palate with flavours of berries and old strawberry, a fine dried herb and fine savoury quality. An abundance of tannins with a chalky texture and acid line set a decent foundation for the fruit. Youthful with cellar time available, but also decent drinking from 2023 through 2029" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2022

A savoury, structured and beautifully layered Pinot Noir. Medium ruby. A smoky, savoury and luscious nose of dark cherry, plum, cured meat, woodsmoke, thyme and boronia. Opulent and rounded with silky tannins, plump cherry fruit and stylish, charred French Oak, this is a generous and cuddly style of Pinot Noir. Behind all the pomp and circumstance, the wine does have a serious side too, as one can see from the architectural tannins and incredible length. Just as delicious in 2022 as it will be in 2032, this wine has something for everyone. Try it with Peking duck, pork belly or eye fillet steak between now and 2036.

93% of the fruit comes from our organic Hua Nui, Pencarrow and Winery vineyards, with the balance from our Palliser vineyard. The fruit is handpicked with 10% whole cluster. A period of cold soak followed by wild fermentations and gentle pumpovers and plunging. The wine is pressed to French Oak barrels and left to mature for a period of 10 months during which time it undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften the wine and add complexity before bottling.
