Bright red fruits, raspberry and plum, with a hint of sap and spice. The palate is soft and textural with the red fruits again dominating. Super fine tannins and a fresh acid.
Our Gamay Noir is grown by Ian and Linda Quinn at Two Terraces Vineyard, on the Mangatahi Terraces, 15km further inland from the Gimblett Gravels. The Managatahi Terraces are ancient river terraces formed over thousands of years by the Ngaruroro River, which now flows more than 30m below the vineyard. These terraces are made up of greywacke and gravel under volcanic, stony, silt based, topsoil. The Gamay Noir block is certified organic as of February 2023.
100% carbonic maceration for 7-9 days (clone dependant) before being whole bunch pressed to stainless steel tanks. 5 months of batanoge before being blended and bottled in August 2023, unfined.
