An elegant & silky Côtes du Rhône
An elegant & silky Côtes du Rhône
Description
Floral, Oak, Raspberry
"Great colour and a bouquet of earth and stone, with a mix of smoke, clove, vanilla and baked red berry fruits. Dark plum and baked raspberry flavours are supported by firm tannins and a medium acid line, combining to deliver a wine of completeness, texture and satisfaction. Balanced, well made and ready to drink. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
Our Héritages range of wines are a product of Ogier's hundred-year-old expertise and the finest of the Côtes du Rhône terroirs. Deep ruby with purple highlights. The nose is very expressive and opens up with licorice, violet, and crushed red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) followed by spicy notes of pepper and juniper. Discreet woody notes bring a beautiful complexity. The mouth is dominated by the suavity of the Grenache that expresses on ripe fruit, figs and plums. The Syrah gives some vivacity and greediness to this great Cotes du Rhone showing silky tannins.
Founded in 1859, Ogier is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the heart of the most prestigious appellation in the south of France. In order to interpret the subtle variations of the terroirs of this AOC and of the entire Rhone Valley, Ogier has deepened its knowledge of the types of soils present in the different appellations and has adapted its work accordingly, particularly its ageing. Its century-old cellars, in the heart of the village, house more than 8,000 hL (211 338 gal) of wooden vats, tuns, demi-muids, barrels and truncated-cone vats. Our Héritages range of wines are a product of Ogier's hundred-year-old expertise and the finest of the Côtes du Rhône terroirs.
De-stemming of 95% of the harvest. The absence of crushing allows enzymatic fermentation to begin in the grapes during the first few days, before they burst to reinforce the fruity notes.
Mainly aged in concrete vats, nearly 20% of the cuvée is aged for a few months in tuns (40 to 85hL and 115hL truncated cone-shaped wooden vats).
