Black Market Mystery Wines™ are simply wines we love, with the branding hidden and revealed only when it arrives at your door!
"A fruity, varietal and enticing wine with fresh green pears and apple custard, there’s a honeysuckle and white spice highlight emphasising a natural floral complexity then soft mineral side. Crisp and dry on the finish with best drinking from 2025 through 2028" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2025

"Beautifully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows rockmelon, Asian pear, floral, and subtle spice notes, followed by a succulent palate offering supple texture and juicy acidity, making it refreshing and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2025
A fresh aromatic Pinot Gris with lovely aromas of elderflower, pear and citrus zest. The palate is supple and juicy with summer fruit flavours and a fine mineral finish.
Our vineyards on free draining river terraces in the rain shadow of the Tararua ranges provide the perfect place to ripen Pinot Gris with full flavours while retaining fresh acidity. Warm sunny days and cool nights allow a long ripening period. Careful canopy management and naturally low yields ensure we harvest clean concentrated fruit.
The fruit is harvested at optimum ripeness , gently pressed and run to stainless steel tanks. Fermentation occurs at cool temperatures with selected yeast to enhance aromatic expression and flavour complexity. After fermentation the wine remains on light lees to enrich the mouthfeel , before blending and bottling.
Food Pairing: A great match with a variety of foods including seafood, chicken and pork , as well as our favourite, a chilled peach.
