Description

Dry, Melon, Pear

Black Market Mystery Wines™ are simply wines we love, with the branding hidden and revealed only when it arrives at your door!

"Flavours of fresh brown pear and pacific apple, there’s a gentle spice and lees quality with a biscuit oatmeal quality. Crisp and dry with a medium+ weight and light satin texture. Acidity adds a refreshing finish and the second and third sips showcase the spice and mouthfeel very well. Best drinking from 2024 through 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2024

A fresh aromatic Pinot Gris with aromas of nashi pear, guava and rockmelon. The palate is alive with citrus and tropical fruit flavours, juicy acidity and a fine mineral finish.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from the Wairarapa, classic cool climate conditions with free drawing soils in the rain shadow of the Tararua ranges. Careful viticulture combined with naturally low yields gives ripe, clean fruit with great flavour intensity.

The focus in the winery is to capture the pure fruit flavours that come in from the vineyard. The grapes were harvested when the fresh fruit flavours were at their peak, then gently pressed. The juice was fermented at cool temperatures with a range of selected yeasts to enhance aromatic potential. After fermentation the wine rested on lees to enrich the mouthfeel before blending and preparation for bottling.
