Description

Floral, Melon, Oak

Black Market Mystery Wines™ are simply wines we love, with the branding hidden and revealed only when it arrives at your door!

"It's delightfully fruited and elegantly expressed on the nose, showing nectarine, Gala apple, nougat, and rockmelon notes, followed by a succulent palate that's beautifully rounded and fleshy. The wine is well-structured, with fine acidity, making it harmonious and lingering with tasty flavours. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2025

A fresh and fruit driven style of Chardonnay with elderflower florals, melon and stone fruit flavours and a creamy palate with subtle toasty oak. Delicious on its own, this chardonnay is extremely versatile with food.

The fruit is from our home vineyard in Wairarapa, a raised stony terrace of the Ruamahunga river. This cool dry site is planted in clones 95, 15 and Mendoza, and consistently produces outstanding Chardonnay.

The fruit was harvested and immediately pressed before being run to older French barriques. Fermentation occurred with wild and inoculated yeasts followed by partial malolactic fermentation. The wines remained in barrel on yeast lees for five months before the blend was assembled and prepared for bottling.

Food Pairing:  A great match with pan-seared fish and lemon butter, roast chicken, or a fresh chilled peach.
