"Bright, fresh and lively wine with citrus/lemon curd, grapefruit and lime zest flavours. Ripe acidity will suit those who normally find the acidity in sauvignon blanc a bit too hard or green. Attractive wine" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, The Real Review, Jan 2024
"Concentrated and structured style with some real grip. It's not the classically fruity, exuberant, all-singing, all-dancing, stainless steel fermented style that put New Zealand on the wine map. This cuvée is fermented fairly warm (1820c) and, as such, it is an aromatically restrained style wit citrus, pear and elderflower flavours. While large casks played their part in this wine's development, the influence is more noticeable in their effect on the rounded texture as opposed to any oaky flavour - although is there just a mere whiff of smoke? The finish is tied up in a clean and crisp manner, with racy acidity powering through" Rebecca Gibb, Master of Wine
"Aromas and flavours of apples and grapefruit then a mix of herbs and tropical fruits, some grassy hay qualities and wet river stone minerality. As the wine opens out on the palate flavours of bell-pepper mix in with the apple, citrus and some gooseberry fruit highlights. Vibrant, fresh and new , crisp and dry with immediate appeal" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
"A fruit cocktail of tropical, citrus, stone fruit with jalapeño pepper and an herbal edge. There's a big ping of high toned acidity that races straight down the center of the mouth, leaving lovely, tongue-tingling, limey refreshment that leaves you craving another sip" Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast
"Notes of fresh limes, ripe guavas, currant leaves and crushed apples. Medium-bodied, fresh and crunchy, with clean acidity. Minerally finish. Sustainable" James Suckling, Jamessuckling.com
This wine is crafted from ripe, clean fruit carefully harvested from the stony soil vineyards of Conders Bend Road in the Wairau Valley.
Sustainably grown and naturally low yielding, these older vines produce concentrated flavours.
The use of seasoned oak barriques and Cuve fermenter create a complex wine that exhibits generous layers of flavour and texture.
