Cherry, Floral, Oak

Black Market Mystery Wines™ are simply wines we love, with the branding hidden and revealed only when it arrives at your door!

"Offering gorgeous fruit purity as well as elegant complexity, the wine shows sweet cherry, floral, olive and subtle spice aromas, leading to a beautifully weighted palate delivering refined texture and rounded mouthfeel. Silky, flowing and lingering with poise and sophistication. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2022

"Flavours of black cherry and dark plum, dried herb and a savoury core, flavours of barrel spice and youthful tannins combine with acidity to form a backbone of structure. As the wine opens up and relaxes flavours of black currant and wood smoke emerge to combine with the flavours of plum and cherry to showcase a youthful modern expression with a crunchy texture and lengthy finish. Well amde, young and needing some cellar time. Best drinking from 2024 through 2030" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2022

"Deep ruby-red, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full and herbaceous, with aromas of thyme and tea leaf entwined with blackberry, strawberry and sweet floral. Medium-bodied, nuances of blackberry and strawberry intermixed thyme, tea leaf, earth and a suggestion of liquorice root. The red and black fruit shows elegance and purity, herbaceous details enrich alongside earthy nuance. The mouthfeel is silky with delicate, supple tannins; lacy acidity lightens up the broody herbaceous elements. This elegant, pretty Pinot Noir shows lovely fruit and herb with depth and a fine-textured mouthfeel" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Sep 2022

"Vibrant, tangy pinot noir with bright cherry, plum, red rose, blueberry and spicy oak flavours together with a suggestion of fresh herb characters. High energy pinot that could have been better with more restrained herbals" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Aug 2022

This elegant Pinot Noir has lifted floral aromatics, with layers of red cherry, cassis and blueberry. The pure fruit flavours are balanced with a subtle spice, savoury fruit tannins, texture and juicy acidity.

The soils in the Awatere are complex, encompassing a matrix of shallow to moderately deep silty loams, with pockets of sand, gravel and clay on higher terraces. The sub-region is drier and cooler with plenty of lowvigour sites, well suited to Pinot Noir.
