"Light, fruity and quite charming red with appealing cherry and raspberry flavours. Pure, refreshing red with a dash of spice" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Sep 2021
This light bodied, unoaked red is light ruby in colour with a charming berryish perfume and a sweet-fruited, lively and supple palate.
The Pinot Noir grapes (95%) were sourced primarily from a cool, dry, low-yielding vineyard in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley, with a small portion (5%) of a Mystery Varietal from a Mystery Region.
Approximately, half the grapes were destemmed and lightly crushed on top of the remaining whole bunches to give the wine a vibrant, crunchy, Beaujolais vibe. The wine was left to ferment naturally for 10days. It was gently pressed into a stainless steel tank, to help preserve its fruity character, where it remained on gross lees for about 6 months and underwent a spontaneous malolactic conversion. The wine was lightly filtered, had a small amount of sulphur added and was bottled.
