Description

  • French oak
  • Ripe cherry
  • Plum
  • Silky tannins

"Lithe and funky, this pinot noir might be pale in the glass, but it’s intense on the chops. Spicy, cherry-drenched and boosted with blueberry. Go large with tender, smoked paprika pork" Yvonne Lorkin, Jun 2020

"A bright ruby, medium-bodied, vibrantly fruity red, with ripe berry and plum flavours, supple tannins, and good depth" Michael Cooper, Aug 2020

This is a vibrant medium bodied Pinot Noir that displays enticing fruits of the forest aromas with ripe cherry and plum flavours and silky smooth tannins.

The Pinot Noir grapes for this Mystery wine were sourced from a cool, dry, low-yielding vineyard in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley.

Grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed and lightly crushed into an open top fermenter and allowed to ferment spontaneously. After two weeks on skins, they were gently pressed and then racked into old French barriques. Here the wine rested for 8 months before being lightly filtered and bottled.
