A lovely wine, youthful & fresh
Cameron Douglas, MS
Description
"Charming and attractively fruited, the wine shows a sense of restraint and refinement; the inviting bouquet shows Black Doris plum, spiced cherry, olive and roasted nut characters. It is elegantly weighted and beautifully flowing on the palate with succulent fruit flavours and fine texture, well framed by polished tannins. Lovely balance and harmony" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2019
"Varietal, fruity, spicy and toasty. Suggestions of black currant and dark cherry, fruit spices and plum. Some white smoke and brown spices of oak. Dry, spicy, fruity , balanced , youthful and dry. A lovely wine, youthful and fresh, needs time to develop and fullyn integrate. Best from 2021 through 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
A supple spicy Syrah, this wine has aromas of violet and pepper, and rich flavours of blueberry and plum with a dusting of cocoa. This is followed by fine youthful tannins and a fresh finish.
This is the first bottling of this Mystery Syrah. The fruit for this wine is sourced from mature vines in Hawke’s Bay, where optimal growing conditions ensure high quality yields.
A combination of plunging and pumping-over was used to ensure maximum flavour and colour extraction from the skins. This in combination with an extended maceration period ensured intense flavouring and colour. This wine was aged in old French Oak for 12 months, before the final blend was assembled. No finings were added to this wine prior to bottling.
Food Pairing: Excellent with Duck, venison casserole, roast beef and mushroom.
