Muddy Water Deliverance Waipara Pinot Noir 2017

Robust with long, flavoursome ripe juicy dark stone fruit

Robust with long, flavoursome ripe juicy dark stone fruit
Description
Dark ruby red colour, with beautiful aromas of dark cherry, red plum, opening out to complex Christmas cake spices. Palate is robust with ripe juicy cherry and plums supported by medium-grained oak tannins. Long and flavoursome with immediate appeal as well as cellaring potential.
The Deliverance Pinot Noir is wild fermented in small lots and manually plunged for natural colour and tannin extraction. The young wine macerated on skins for four weeks before pressing to French oak for natural malolactic fermentation and maturing for 10 months before blending and bottling onsite.
The 2017 growing season followed on from a 12 months drought in North Canterbury. The spring was warm, windy and frost free. Excellent conditions over flowering led to even fruit set and a good number of bunches. Just before vintage was ready to begin two tropical cyclones spun down from the north and created very wet, warm conditions for a period of weeks. Unlike 2014, once the cyclones passed the weather dried up and harvest was able to continue unimpeded by rain.
