Description
Dry, Passionfruit, Pineapple
“Fresh and zesty, with lime peel, lemongrass, fresh-cut herbs and ruby grapefruit. Vibrant and lively on the palate, with cool-season flavours and mineral, stony acidity. Well balanced, with a subtle hint of residual fruit sweetness" Greg Lane, Winemaker
Lifted and vibrant notes of guava, passionfruit and pineapple with fresh herbal elements give this wine its classic Sauvignon Blanc profile. Juicy, ripe and bold flavours race across the palate, followed by a mineral and saline finish to lengthen the palate.
The grapes for this wine come from our Silver Tussock vineyard in the Pisa sub-region as well as our Templars Hill vineyard in Bannockburn, Central Otago which are managed by our viticulture team.
2026 was one of Central Otago’s coolest and latest seasons in years. A late budburst and mild summer slowed ripening, while dry, low wind conditions kept berry size in check. Warmth finally arrived in March, with Bannockburn harvest beginning in early April, three weeks later than last season. The extended hang time built excellent flavour and colour at moderate sugar levels. A late frost on 23 April ended the season, but the fruit harvested was exceptional, with real potential for benchmark wines.
Majority of the fruit was machine picked in the morning to keep cool. Excellent flavour was seen in the fruit on the vine, with a balance of greens and tropicals. Once in the winery, they were swiftly pressed to tank, settled for 48 hours before fermentation with X5 yeast at cool temperatures to give great aromatic presence and a juciy palate. Once fermented, they were racked off lees to maintain aromatic purity before bottling soon after vintage.
Food Pairing: Best enjoyed with Bluss oysters.
