Mt Difficulty Roaring Meg Central Otago Pinot Gris 2026
A beautifully satisfying Pinot Gris
A beautifully satisfying Pinot Gris
Description
Dry, Floral, Grapefruit
Lifted aromas of jasmine, pear blossom, mango and brioche. Rich tropical fruit and fresh peach Danish lead to a heady, aromatic palate with opulent texture, excellent weight and drive. A beautifully satisfying Pinot Gris.

The grapes for this wine come from our vineyards in Central Otago’s Cromwell basin.
A throwback vintage, 2026 was one of the coolest and latest seasons Central Otago has seen in years. Late budburst and a mild, often absent summer slowed ripening considerably, while dry conditions kept berry size in check. A warmer March allowed harvest to begin in Bannockburn in early April, three weeks later than last season. The extended hang time built flavour and deep colour at moderate sugar levels. A late frost on 23 April brought the season to a swift close, but the fruit harvested was in excellent condition, offering real potential for benchmark wines.
The grapes for this wine come from our vineyards in Central Otago’s Cromwell basin. The fruit was harvested in April at optimal ripeness. The fruit was processed swiftly to minimize oxidation, with the juice settled overnight and racked clean the following morning. The wine was fermented cool with aromatic yeast, to help maximise varietal character. We stopped the fermentation with a small amount of residual sugar to provide palate weight and texture.
