Dancing on the palate with electric acidity
Candice Chow
Description
Dry, Oak, Strawberry
"Bursting with vibrancy, intense floral and red fruit at core, dancing on the palate with electric acidity and a powdery, mineral texture" Candice Chow, Wine Chat
"Ripe, red fruited bouquet with scents of cherries and yellow plums, a tropical fruit tea quality and fruit spices. Crisp and dry with a pinot-noir-esq flavour and mouthfeel. Some tautness from the tannins and acid line then a flourish of red berry flavours round out the palate perfectly. Balanced and well made with best drinking from 2024 through end of summer 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2024
"Bright hot pink. The muted nose and palate are currently very young with firm phenolic structure and taut acidity dominating the weighty, serious, dry palate. Under this architecture is a late-blooming core of mid-weight cherry and baking spice flavours which emerge with air before going back into hiding on the chalky, austere finish. Unusually for a New Zealand rosé, this needs ageing before it is approachable" Stephen Wong, The Real Review, Nov 2024
Dry, light and crisp, this Rosé offers subtle notes of fresh strawberry, raspberry and grapefruit.
Established in 1864 by Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo is the birthplace of Central Otago wine. Our wines are made with 100% estate-grown fruit sourced from our vineyards across three distinct sub-regions, the Alexandra Basin, Bannockburn and Pisa. Utilising sustainable farming practices and minimal intervention methods in the winery, the outcome is elegant, refined, and impeccably balanced wines epitomising the terroir of Central Otago.
2024 started as a cool, slow growing season with below average rainfall. The season progressed to become warmer and more settled with no autumn frosts. Wines show optimal ripeness, medium body and bright acidity.
