Description
Dry, Oak, Peach
"This dry-ish Pinot Gris is packed with appealing aromatics with excellent intensity, enlivening acidity hauls along a fine-textured mouthfeel and lends a crisp, moreish closing" Candice Chow, Wine Chat
"A very youthful and taut wine from nose to palate there’s a striking aromatic lift with scents of citrus then green pear skin, some apple and plenty of fresh quince. Dry, salivating, saline and new, flavours of white fleshed orchard fruits laced with citrus are persistent on the palate with a backbone of acidity. Well made, needs cellar time to settle. Will be excellent from mid to late 2025 through 2029" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Oct 2024
"Muted nose with subtle apple and spice trimmed in lightly smoky oak; the palate is equally tight and reticent with light-weight green apple, celery and bay leaf flavours bound in a. elegant, saline structure built of phenolics and zingy acidity. A dry, restrained and vinous style which is more ethereal than usual for the variety. It is very young at the moment and needs a year or two to unfurl" Stephen Wong, The Real Review, Sep 2024
Dry, medium-bodied and luscious, with pronounced notes of fresh yellow apple and pear, white peach, melon and honeysuckle.
Established in 1864 by Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo is the birthplace of Central Otago wine. Our wines are made with 100% estate-grown fruit sourced from our vineyards across three distinct sub-regions, the Alexandra Basin, Bannockburn and Pisa. Utilising sustainable farming practices and minimal intervention methods in the winery, the outcome is elegant, refined, and impeccably balanced wines epitomising the terroir of Central Otago.
2024 started as a cool, slow growing season with below average rainfall. The season progressed to become warmer and more settled with no autumn frosts. Wines show optimal ripeness, medium body and bright acidity.
