Description
Cranberry, Oak, Spice
"Moderately deep ruby-red with a slight garnet tinge, lighter on the rim. This has a beautifully haunting bouquet with aromas of dried cranberry, Bing cherry and raspberry melded with dried hibiscus, herbs, sweet spice and earthy undergrowth. Medium-bodied, aromas of dried cranberry, Bing cherry and raspberry entwined with medicinal herbs, liquorice, thyme and dried hibiscus, alongside well-portioned sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, dried mushroom and forest floor. The wine is elegantly well-proportioned with complex tertiary developments, upholding by lacy, integrated acidity. Refined, silky tannins lightly coated the palate, reflecting delicate spices and an alluring, lengthy finish" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews
Just released, this is Mon Cheval’s upper tier Pinot Noir only produced in top vintages. Dark, deep and complex, the broad bouquet shows savoury dark berry, cured meat, mushroom and forest floor. A touch of aniseed and floral perfumes also come through, possibly from the use of whole bunch stalks. The wine has an abundance of ripe berry and plum fruit flavours, mushroom and dried herbs, with an instantly appealing savoury complexity and lingering finish. Barrel selection of the 2017 vintage, aged 18 months in 40% new oak prior to release.
