Mills Reef Estate Hawke's Bay Syrah 2019

This medium- bodied Syrah shows an abundance of blueberry and violets with a touch of white pepper, complimented with spicy cedary oak. With a suppleness and refined tannins this wine is ready for immediate enjoyment, it will also reward cellaring.

This delightful Estate Syrah was sourced from a specially selected vineyard in Hawkes Bay. The 2019 growing season experienced a very hot dry summer and early autumn, which led to harvesting clean fruit at optimum ripeness on the 11th and 12th April 2019.

After a brief cold soak to extract important colour and flavour components, the must was fermented in closed-top stainless steel vats with selected varietal yeasts. After 28 days on skins,  the wine was sent to barrel for fourteen months aging in a selection of new (25%) and seasoned French oak. After a light fining the wine was filtered before bottling on 7th September, 2020.
