McGuigan Private Bin Shiraz 2021 (Australia)
Soft, juicy & flavoursome
Soft, juicy & flavoursome
Description
- Spicy oak
- Plums
- Chocolate
- Medium-bodied
A soft, juicy and flavoursome Shiraz highlighting mellow aromas of plums, dark chocolate and spicy oak. This wine displays a medium bodied palate of soft luscious dark fruit followed by pepper and spice undertones.
The climate is hot with high evaporation rates and generally low rainfall, making irrigation essential. The climate is also continental, resulting in long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. Modern viticultural and winemaking techniques mean that the climate can be seen as one of the regions strengths. Long sunshine hours ensure fruit ripens fully and low relative humidity results in little incidence of disease.
The Shiraz grapes were picked just as the flavours were at their prime. Harvest was carried out in the cool of evening and the fruit was crushed and fermented on skins delivering the rich colour. The wine was then matured in a combination of stainless steel tanks and on oak, before filtering and bottling.
Food Pairing: Pairs well with a range of dishes including light salads, fresh pasta and seafood dishes.
