McGuigan Private Bin Shiraz 2020 (Australia)
Youthful, smooth & well balanced
Youthful, smooth & well balanced
Description
- Spicy oak
- Mocha
- Plums & dark cherries
- Savoury tannins
Featuring mellow aromas of plums, dark cherries and spicy oak. A medium bodied wine, which is smooth yet has great mouthfeel with soft juicy dark fruit flavours. Mocha oak and savoury tannins add length to the palate. The wine is youthful and well balanced.
The fruit for this approachable, full flavoured wine was sourced from their vineyards in South Eastern Australia. The climate is hot with high evaporation rates and generally low rainfall, making irrigation essential. The climate is also continental, resulting in long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. Long sunshine hours ensure fruit ripens fully and low relative humidity results in little incidence of disease.
Picked at their prime the grapes for this wine were harvested in the cool of the evening then crushed and fermented with their skins to deliver the rich colour seen in the glass. The wine was matured in a combination stainless steel and oak before filtering and bottling.
Food Pairing: A great accompaniment to succulent red meat dishes and tomato based pasta dishes, such as lobster with a spicy tomato sauce served over Rigate pasta or for a summer twist try a cold pasta salad with cherry tomatoes, lemon, garlic, and capers.
