Description

Dry, Oak, Passionfruit

Delicate aromas of white peach, grapefruit zest and ripe citrus are complemented by fresh herbs, apple blossom and saline minerality. The palate is textured and generous, with subtle lees complexity, vibrant acidity and flavours of crisp orchard fruit and citrus, finishing long, pure and mineral.

The Home Block is where it all began back in 1980, and our quest to perfect Martinborough’s venerable style continues here today with some of the oldest vines in New Zealand. Winemaker Tom Turner’s pursuit of perfection starts in the vineyard and can be found in every structured, balanced, nuanced glass of Martinborough Vineyard.

The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc comes from our vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace and Ruakokoputuna. Yields from our Martinborough Terrace vineyards here are typically low, giving the wine intensity, richness and lower acidity which regulates crops ensuring consistently ripe, high-quality grapes are harvested.

The 2026 growing season began early with a warm spring, bringing rapid vine growth, excellent fruit set and the prospect of an early harvest. We were fortunate to avoid the worst of the pre-Christmas hailstorm that affected parts of Martinborough. Cooler, wetter conditions through January slowed ripening, enhancing phenolic development and preserving natural acidity, though disease pressure increased. Warm, dry weather returned in late February, allowing the fruit to reach optimal ripeness.

Selectively harvested at peak ripeness during cool autumn mornings, the grapes were promptly pressed. Most of the juice was cool fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness and aromatics, while 15% was fermented in seasoned French oak to add texture and complexity. The wine rested on light lees before being filtered and bottled in winter 2026.

Food Pairing: Perfect with fresh seafood, herb roasted chicken, fresh pasta, parmesan and asparagus risotto, or wild mushroom and goat’s cheese tart.
