Cherry, Oak, Strawberry

"The range is in stumpy bottles. No doubt, we all know so-called purists who would be horrified, but I rather like them. This wine from South Aussie vineyards, specifically Limestone Coast and Adelaide Hills, had around 5% whole bunches included. Maturation was in large 600-litre barrels with 30% of them new.  A ruby/garnet hue, the nose has rather alluring notes of red fruits, raspberries, spices, woodsmoke and hints of undergrowth. The wine could do with a smidge more length, but in fairness, at this price, it is doing very nicely and is certainly good value. A lovely fresh style, for enjoying over the next two to four years" Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot

"It's elegantly lifted on the nose with sweet berry, floral, sage, and rhubarb notes, leading to a fruit-expressive palate filled with silky texture and tasty flavours. Beautifully composed and balanced with a lengthy, comforting finish. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2024

A bigger more flavoursome Pinot Noir, showing regional character. There’s vibrant strawberry and cherry aromas on the nose enhanced by an earthy intensity. It strikes a balance of sweet and savoury fruit on the palate with a complexing length that displays cleansing acidity with soft tannins and a lasting finish. An extremely versatile Pinot Noir that can hold its own, enjoy chilled or at room temperature.

The southern hairy-nose wombat is smaller than other wombats but is stocky, robust and the proud state emblem of South Australia. Like the might of the little wombat, Little Giant is crafted from premium regional South Australian fruit from established vineyards that deliver character and interest well above their size and weight. Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and preservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, minimally handled in the winery and fruit vibrancy is not hidden by non-essential artefact. Seeking first and foremost fruit expression, drinkability and to be a great accompaniment to food. Don’t let the size fool you, these are wines you’ll want to drink.

The winter and spring prior to the 2023 vintage was generally a little wetter and cooler than what is usual, delaying the start of vintage and meaning some extra care was required through the growing period. Whilst the vintage was indeed later than usual, there were some really beautiful parcels of fruit that benefited from being grown in sites where the slower ripening simply enabled flavour ripeness to be achieved with character & balance.

From premium vineyards in South Australia, grapes were hand picked then fermented with a small portion of whole bunch (about 5%) for complexity. The wine was then added to 600ltr barrels for maturation, a portion of which had seen 30% new oak the rest was consigned to old oak.
