Little Giant Hairy Nose McLaren Vale Shiraz 2022 (Australia)
A bold wine with velvety tannins
A bold wine with velvety tannins
Description
Blackberry, Oak, Vanilla
"The bouquet is wonderfully ripe and inviting, showing black and blueberry, violet, subtle spice, and rich floral characters. The palate delivers juicy fruit intensity with beautifully rounded mouthfeel and fine-grained tannins, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
This is a bold red wine that is rich with dark and red berry flavours. The presence of berries from older vines deliver blackberry plum flavours with vanilla, milk chocolate and fresh leather on the palate. The mouth-feel is plush and cuddly with velvety tannins and a long finish.
The southern hairy-nosed wombat is stout and robust, perfectly adapted to the harsh environment in which it lives. Likewise, the thick, gnarled vineyards of South Australia produce small bunches of intensely flavoured grapes from the ancient soils and dry climate.
A cool, wet spring helped with soil moisture followed by a warm November ensuring no damaging weather conditions. Cool and calm weather followed that meant even ripening and good acid retention. A mild end to summer and a cool Autumn saw fruit hanging with no disease or extreme heat posing a problem. Yields and quality were up across the board.
McLaren Vale Shiraz is renowned for it’s bold and expansive red berried flavours. A ‘hands off’ small batch winemaking approach with minimal intervention allows full expression of this stunning fruit; displaying a vibrant and complex array of flavours supported by subtle oak and soft tannins. An immediately appealing and versatile wine that showcases the natural approachability and generosity of McLaren Vale Shiraz.
Food Pairing. Pair with steak.
