Description
Apple, Nougat, Oak
"Beautifully fruited with elegant complexity, the inviting bouquet shows ripe peach, rockmelon, nougat, and oatmeal characters, leading to a succulent palate that's creamy and flowing. Well-structured and harmonious with a lengthy, delectable finish. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2025
"A gentle, silky mouthfeel reveals stonefruit and citrus accompanied by subtle toasty attributes and delicate floral notes, lending a tensile, elegant finish" Candice Chow, Wine Chat
"An attractive bouquet of white peach and gun-flint, grapefruit and pear. As the wine opens out on the nose and palate scents and flavours of apple and citrus along with a mineral quality begin to emerge. Persistent, excellent texture, a decent acid line and length, lees and a light oak statement deliver a wine fresh and style. Best from late 2025 through 2029" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2025
Aromatic with white stone fruits, tropical pineapple and a flinty, wet stone edge. Chalky minerality, with top notes of toasted bread and toasted oak. Drink now to 5 years.
Kin by Te Kano is a quintessential expression of Central Otago Chardonnay. Made with sustainably farmed grapes from our Estate vineyards, Kin references the family ownership and Kowhai regeneration project that stand at the heart of our philosophy and provides an easy-drinking and delicious introduction into the Te Kano range.
Spring temperatures and rainfall were normal in Central Otago and flowering proceeded in warm and relatively stable weather. Mid-summer was hot and dry, while a welcome cool change and periodic rainfall throughout March slowed ripening and allowed time for additional flavour development. Waitaki experienced a cool and long growing season, preserving the fresh acidity and perfumed aromatics which typify the region.
Food Pairing: This wine should be matched with great company. If eating, try it with poultry, creamy pastas or fresh seafood.
