A beautiful expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir. Alluring notes of dark cherries, cloves, and forest floor come to the fore. The palate is dense and structured, yet elegant with silky tannins and chalky acidity that persists. A fine wine that is drinking beautifully now on release, and will cellar for another 10 years.
At Kelly Washington we seek the most unique and diverse parcels of high quality fruit, which we translate into our elegant and honest wines.
Overall, a markedly unpredictable growing season prevailed, mixing in a frost, hail and wind prior to the flowering period. Luckily, dry and settled conditions set in over the flowering period, leading to a crop level slightly above average. A cool, dry and settled period over late summer and into autumn ensured we were able to hang our Pinot Noir out to achieve full physiological ripeness, with fruit showing the classic dense flavours ripe, firmly structured tannins.
