Hunter's Marlborough Rosé 2021
Vibrant, textured & creamy
Vibrant, textured & creamy
Description
- Dry style
- Berries
- Stonefruit
- Creamy
This vibrant Rosé is fruit driven with beautiful rose pedal characters on the nose. Fresh berry characters and strawberry notes leads onto a palate that is complex, showing bright fruit characters. Peach and nectarine characters lingers on the palate, with an off-dry texture that finishes full and creamy.
This wine is a blend of Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer grapes with each variety contributing unique characteristics to the final wine.
At the start of the growing season, we had several frost events affecting isolated areas in Marlborough. During flowering there was a cold spell of weather, which had a significant effect on the region’s fruit set. While this affects the yield, it can help promote concentration of aromas and flavors in the grapes. Mild summer conditions help with even ripening of the grapes which allowed perfect conditions to pick at optimum ripeness.
Fruit was picked in the cool of the morning. The Pinot Noir grapes were left to soak on skins for 24 hours to pick up some colour before pressing. The varieties were fermented separately before the wine was blended and Estate bottled.
