Succulent, supple & smooth
Wine Orbit
Description
"This reliable red from the Southern Rhône offers complex aromas of dark plum, mixed berry, warm spice, smoked game and toasted almond on the nose, followed by a succulent palate that is supple and smooth. The wine offers generosity as well as structure, making it a terrific food partner. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2018
"The 2015 Côtes du Rhône marks a terrific return to form for this cuvée. It's intense and peppery, with concentrated black cherry fruit, a medium to full-bodied palate and long finish" Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate
Deep and dark red with a shiny complextion in the glass with a fresh fruit nose. The bouquet carries red berries and spices, which are followed by a full, round and racy palate. The tanins are rounded and smooth making this wine a full-bodied, rich and intensely aromatic wine. Full with a long finish and plenty of elegance and finesse due to the well balanced tannins and fruit.
The blend is 50 % Syrah, 40 % Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre with these varities grown in varied soils of sediment, limestone & granite. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Following harvest the juce was processed through traditional winemakeing methods, with temperature controlled fermentation and long soaking on the skins. Aging takes place over the following 1 ½ years in oak foudres.
Food Pairing: A great match with cold meats, cheese and red meat dishes in particular those featuring game birds.
