Description
"The 2014 Côtes du Rhône is more open and approachable than the 2013 and has an elegant, charming feel as well as lots of black cherries, spice and Provençal herbs. Drink it over the coming 5-6 years" Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate
Deep and dark red with a shiny complextion in the glass with a fresh fruit nose. The bouquet carries red berries and spices, which are followed by a full, round and racy palate. The tanins are rounded and smooth making this wine a full-bodied, rich and intensely aromatic wine. Full with a long finish and plenty of elegance and finesse due to the well balanced tannins and fruit.
The blend is 50 % Syrah, 40 % Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre with these varities grown in varied soils of sediment, limestone & granite. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Following harvest the juce was processed through traditional winemakeing methods, with temperature controlled fermentation and long soaking on the skins. Aging takes place over the following 1 ½ years in oak foudres.
Food Pairing: A great match with cold meats, cheese and red meat dishes in particular those featuring game birds.
