Dark inky purple in colour with perfumes of blackberry, plum, milk chocolate with aniseed and vanillin spice. Rich, thick and intense palate of dark berry fruit flavour. Liquorice, mint chocolate and sweet mocha tones.
The story of Grant Burge is one of the past, the present, and the future. Planting their roots in the Barossa Valley in 1865, the Burges began as a family of devoted vignerons. For five generations, they spent their days toiling on the land, understanding the soil, and from it, growing grapes that would become premium wines of today. At Grant Burge wines, they challenged themselevs to come up with the most vibrant and impactful wines possible. Grant Burge McLaren Vale Ink is an intense and opulent wine, from the heart of McLaren Vale, with a colour so dark it’s almost ink.
Winter rainfalls were slightly below average for McLaren Vale while spring and Summer continued to be dry. Heat spikes in January preceded a warm and dry harvest period however temperatures rarely exceed the low 30’s. Diligent vineyard management and strong vine architecture allowed fruit to achieve desirable sugar and flavour levels with very low disease pressure.
