A generous, smooth Merlot

Description

Mocha, Oak, Spice

Generous, smooth, and made for the comfort zone. Perfumed plum and spice, with delicious mocha notes and a supple, easy-drinking finish. The kind of red that makes dinner feel like a plan.

Giesen Estate is New Zealand wine made for sharing. Fruit-forward, well-balanced and smooth through the finish, with varietal character front and centre. Classic styles. Great in the glass.

Sourced from Hawke’s Bay, a premium region known for ripe, expressive Merlot. The 2024/25 season was warm and dry, ideal for building flavour and richness. A brief spell of late-season rain had minimal impact, with fine weather returning ahead of harvest. The result is fruit with depth, balance and fresh varietal character.

After selective harvesting, fruit is taken straight to the winery and transferred to red fermentation tanks. A short cold soak helps build colour and mouthfeel, followed by a hot ferment to maximise flavour. After fermentation, the wine is matured for six months in French oak.

Food Pairing: Slow cooked beef brisket, shiitake mushrooms and Asian greens.
