A delicate cherry blossom colour with charming red fruit aromatics lifting effusively from the glass. Concentrated, with a splash of delicate yet almost creamy berry fruit, the wine flows with creamy ease towards its pleasingly dry finish. Made from Pinot Noir, the GV Collection Rose has a creamy berry freshness.
Made from Pinot Noir grown in the Bendigo (90%) and Gibbston (10%) sub regions of Central Otago.
Following a fine start, vintage 2020 had cool, unsettled conditions over December and January. Early developing vineyards had even flowering and set, later ones had truncated flowering and uneven set and development. Whilst the weather stabilised through March and April, the vintage required careful negotiation in order to manage the wide range of vineyard, vine, and bunch variances. Yields were low, with real focus on fruit flavours.
Hand picked fruit was destemmed, given 12-24 hours skin contact, then drained and pressed. The majority of the wine was fermented in stainless tanks with a small portion fermented in barrel (10%). 30% of the wine went through a softening malolactic fermentation, after which the wine was stabilised and bottled.
Drawn from premium Bendigo, Pisa and Gibbston vineyards, GV Collection wines are classically sculpted, pure expressions of Central Otago.
