Farm Hand Monash Valley Organic Merlot 2025 (Australia)
Delivering a very satisfying array of flavours
Delivering a very satisfying array of flavours
Description
Blackcurrant, Chocolate, Oak
If you like a well rounded Merlot, this is it. Blackcurrant, black plum with subtle vanilla and spice. Palate has soft velvet tannins that linger, this would make a delicious mulled wine or savoury tempeh/mince pairing.
The Farm Hand wines are grown by the Grigoriou family, fourth generation wine growers, from almost one hundred acres of Organic Vineyards in the Monash Valley of South Australia.
The moderate, dry climate with very low rainfall during autumn and fertile soils is perfect suited to Organic Viticulture. The well established vines (up to thirty years of age) are planted widely apart for airflow to minimise disease pressure and minimal drip irrigation ensures low yielding fruit with rich flavours and varietal expressiveness.
The 2025 vintage was defined by an early, fast-paced harvest due to spring frosts, drought, and intense summer heat. Yields were down, but fruit quality was excellent, with concentrated flavours and natural acidity. Red wines show richness and depth, while whites maintain freshness and balance.
Fully de-stemmed before fermentation in a mix of open and closed tanks. The wine was primarily vinified without the influence of oak for maximum fruit expression before blending with a component aged in three and four year old French oak.
