Description
Dry, Mineral, Pear
“It's elegantly expressed on the nose with green pear, lemongrass, and oatmeal nuances, followed by a finely flowing palate that's fleshy and supple. Beautifully structured by fine acidity, finishing long and pleasingly dry” Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
“A lovely wine, silky touch with flavours of pear and red apple, some delicate spice qualities and decent acid line. What I like the most is the mineral and freshness framed by the decent fruit qualities and persistent flavour profile. Balanced and well made” Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
“Extrait de Terre” wines are made by carefully selecting exceptional vineyard sites in southern France and working with distinctive regional grape varieties by the highly acclaimed LGI wines, who were awarded Best French Still Wine Producer at the Berliner Wein Trophy for three years in a row. Originally the brainchild of Alain Grignon and UK Master of Wine Mark Lynton, who had a vision of making affordable, modern French wines designed specifically for the international market. Now under the supervision of oenologist Xavier Roger with wines tailor-made to appeal to Kiwi tastes through local importer Steve Bennett, Master of Wine.
Vermentino is a mid-ripening, aromatic, maritime grape variety, grown throughout the Mediterranean where it is well-suited to hot, sunny and dry climatic conditions as it retains freshness. After a gentle pneumatic pressing, with extraction of the premium free-run juices only, the juice is clarified before being fermented. Cool temperature-controlled fermentation between 16°C to 18°C occurs in stainless steel tanks to preserve delicacy. Malolactic fermentation is stopped to preserve the freshness of the wine. It is then aged for 4 months on fine lees with regular stirring before bottling.
Food Pairing: Sashimi, shellish, seafood pasta, summer salads, quiche and grilled vegetables.
