Description

Chocolate, Oak, Raspberry

"It's splendidly ripe and fragrant on the nose with blackberry, clove, floral, and nutmeg aromas, followed by a succulent palate delivering good weight and supple mouthfeel. The wine is fruit-expressive and silky, making it immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2026

Medium bodied yet packed with flavour, it opens with ripe dark berries, plum and a touch of chocolate. The palate is plush and supple, with fine tannins and just the right snap of acidity to keep things in check. A seriously big-boned Merlot.

The Elephant in the Room wines are proudly large in scale and expansive in flavour. Ignoring fashion and braving the scorn “wine thought police” Elephant in the Room was created to give consumers exactly what they want – full bodied and mouth-filling wines that deliver maximum pleasure. Each wine is sourced from slow-ripening cool climate vineyards in the Limestone Coast of South Australia and partially matured in French Oak before final blending and bottling by Corey Ryan.

Sourced from established vineyards in the cooler limestone coast of South Australia’s South East corner. The consistent daily temperatures and cooler nights combine to ensure the retention of natural acidity in the elegant fruit harvested whilst promoting long, slow flavour development.

The 2025 vintage in the Limestone Coast was marked by a generally mild growing season with extended ripening, delivering fruit with strong flavour development and balanced natural acidity. Reds show good depth and fine tannin structure, while whites retain freshness and purity, pointing to an overall high-quality year for the region.

Partially hand-harvested fruit was de-stemmed and fermented mainly in closed fermenters with regular pump-overs, alongside a smaller portion fermented in open vats. After fermentation, all parcels were blended, with two-thirds matured in stainless steel and one-third in French oak for nine months before bottling, with minimal fining, filtration, and sulphur additions.
