Description

Blackcurrant, Oak, Spice

"It's delightfully expressed on the nose, showing dark plum, liquorice, and toasted spice characters, followed by a silky-smooth palate offering succulent fruit flavours with supple texture and elegant tannins, making for excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2026

Medium bodied but bursting with flavour, this Langhorne Creek Shiraz dishes up waves of blackberry, plum and a lick of dark spice and cocoa. The palate is juicy and plush with fine, velvety tannins and a bright line of acidity keeping it all in shape – subtle as an elephant in a tasting room, and just as hard to forget.

The Elephant in the Room wines are proudly large in scale and expansive in flavour. Created to deliver full bodied and mouth-filling wines, Elephant in the Room gives consumers what they want- quality, flavour and something to talk about. Each wine is sourced from slow-ripening cool climate vineyards and partially matured in French Oak before final blending and bottling by Corey Ryan.

The 2024 vintage in Langhorne Creek is generally understood to have been warm and relatively dry, leading to ripe, generously flavoured fruit and an earlier-than-average harvest. Reds tend to show plush, dark-fruited profiles with supple tannins, while whites are fuller in style yet retain enough acidity for balance, suggesting a solid to very good year for the region.

Sourced from a selection of mature, dry-grown vineyards in Langhorne Creek managed by Jim Zerella. The fruit is partially hand-harvested before de-stemming and cool fermentation in small two tonne open fermenters with regular hand plunging. Matured in seasoned French oak (20% new French) for six months before bottling with minimal filtration and sulphur addition.
