Wine Orbit
Description
- French oak
- Dark cherry & plum
- Floral notes
- Toasted almond
"Delightfully fruited and fragrant, the bouquet shows Black Doris plum, dark cherry, floral and toasted almond characters with a hint of mushroom complexity. It is succulent and beautifully rounded on the palate with fleshy mouthfeel and silky tannins, finishing gorgeously long and velvety. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2019
This wine displays layers of ripe red berry, dark fruit and subtle floral notes alongside vibrant acidity and fine grained tannins.
Central Otago is world-renowned for producing great Pinot Noir. The grapes for this Pinot Noir were sourced from a single vineyard in Bendigo. A combination of Burgundian clones was used in blending to showcase the broad flavour spectrum of Central Otago Pinot Noir. All the grapes were carefully de-stemmed and were cold soaked for 4 days to preserve delicate aromas and colour. The wine had 11 months in French oak (30% new) before bottling. The wine was bottled on 29th March 2019.
Established in 2003, Elephant Hill located within a stone’s throw of the Pacific Ocean on the idyllic Te Awanga coast of Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island. The winemaking at Elephant Hill is driven by tradition while not losing sight of what innovation can bring to the blend. Their aim is to make wines that are balanced, elegant and a true expression of the vineyards they come from.
Food Pairing: It is a Pinot Noir which matches well with a hearty beef casserole.
