Wine Orbit
Description
Oak, Raspberry, Spice
"Richly fruited with savoury nuances, the fragrant bouquet presents blackberry, dried herb, cured meat, and nutmeg aromas. It's succulent and supple in the mouth, offering excellent weight and a supple mouthfeel, beautifully structured by grainy tannins, with a lingering, robust finish. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Deep red in the glass with a bold and expressive nose of black fruits and raspberries with subtle notes of spicy oak. The palate is medium bodied with compelling red berry flavours framed by chalky tannins and a savoury character.
El Payador is a contemporary and fruit driven Argentinian Malbec created in partnership with third generation Mendoza winemaker Jorge Daniel Falasco. The Falasco family owns 3,000 hectares of vineyards in many of the prime locations, including in the ‘Uco Valley’ which is 1,100 metres above sea level and offers a perfect micro-climate for producing fresh fruit driven wines.
Argentina’s 2024 Malbec vintage was warm and challenging, with low yields from heat and Zonda winds, but careful vineyard management produced wines with concentrated dark fruit, vibrant acidity, soft tannins, and an unexpectedly fresh, elegant style.
Food Pairing: An impressively long, dry finish makes it a good match for lamb back straps with rosemary and garlic.
