Powerful yet refined, with velvety tannins framing a concentrated palate of blackcurrant, ripe plum and dark chocolate. Nuances of cedar and spice provide depth and structure.

Crimson Monster creates monstrously rich and full bodied wines sourced from low yielding, established vineyards located in some of South Australia’s finest regions such as McLaren Vale and Coonawarra. Thick gnarled old vines produce tiny berries of incredible intensity that is harnessed by careful winemaking and partial maturation in large seasoned oak barrels to deliver wonderfully approachable, opulent and mouth-coating flavours.

The 2023 Coonawarra vintage was shaped by a cool, wet season that demanded careful vineyard management but ultimately delivered impressive results. Reds were  harvested later at lower sugar levels, producing elegant, finely structured wines reminiscent of classic Coonawarra styles.

Sourced from two vineyards that were planted with one on black and the other on red soils of the famed Coonawarra. The wine spent lesser time on skins that usual and following a cool and uneventful primary fermentation the wine was pressed off into a combination of stainless steel and second-use French oak for maturation where it was held for a period of 10 months prior to blending and bottling.

Food Pairing: Perfect with slow-cooked lamb shoulder, beef cheek ragu, or mushroom risotto.
