Description

Dry, Spice, Strawberry

“Delicate and finely scented, the bouquet reveals wild strawberry, Gala apple, citrus peel, and oatmeal nuances, followed by an elegantly flowing palate that's linear and mouthwatering. A gorgeous rendition, offering fabulous drinking. At its best: now to 2028” Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Scale_-_Dry

“A fine and balanced example, textured, fresh and fruity with flavours of red melon and strawberry, some cherry and wet pebbles mineral ideas. Dry and crisp, medium+ acidity and core fruit flavours that repeat and deliver balance and freshness. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2029” Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

“Coral pink in colour, this wine bursts alive with floral aromatics, strawberry fruit notes, along with creamy secondary tones. That vibrancy is there in the mouth too, which boasts gentle spice, again a suggestion of summer fruits and an off dry, yet clean finish. There’s enough sweetness here to satisfy the rosé fanatics, but it is balanced with good acidity and a textural, firm grip that eludes most pink wines. Classic example of southern French rosé, in a stunningly beautiful bottle” Paul Tudor, Master of Wine

Produced by the highly acclaimed LGI wines, who were awarded Best French Still Wine Producer at the Berliner Wein Trophy for three years in a row. Originally the brainchild of Alain Grignon and UK Master of Wine Mark Lynton, who had a vision of making affordable, modern French wines designed specifically for the international market. Now under the supervision of oenologist Xavier Roger with wines tailor-made to appeal to Kiwi tastes through local importer Steve Bennett, Master of Wine.

The Combe Rocher (literally ‘rocky valley’) range is one of pure authenticity crafted from carefully selected terroirs with rocky soils between the Montagne Noire (Black Mountain range) over four departments along the Languedoc-Roussillon. This is a perfect location, with South facing slopes and hot sunny days to fully ripen the grapes. Here, the northern mountains of the Pyrenees and the Cevennes embrace the vineyards of the Pays d’Oc like an amphitheatre.

This delicious Rosé wine was born in the Languedoc from a small village in the foothills where making Rosé wine is a longstanding way of life. Here, Grenache grapes benefit from the Mediterranean climate to reach optimum ripeness. The grapes are harvested at night when the temperature is cool in order to prevent oxidation and preserve freshness in the wine. As they arrive at the cellar, the grapes are immediately pressed. The pressed juice is put in a CO2 saturated atmosphere to avoid any oxidation. Juices are drawn from the tanks and left to ferment for 15 days at 13-15°C in stainless steel tanks. Fine lees ageing for 4 months before bottling.

Food Pairing: Enjoy this wine chilled, as an aperitif or with various tapas, cold cuts, hummus, Caesar salad.
