Cloud Cuckoo Land is reserved for high-quality, low-intervention wines made from Mediterranean varieties in the Riverland by Giles Cooke Master of Wine. Anything is possible if you don’t see the obstacles, challenge the “received wisdom” and resist the naysayers. All varieties are trellised and a mix of rootstocks and own roots on the characteristic red, sandy loams of the Riverland. A rare Australian blend of 3 characterful Italian grape varieties: 47% Nero D'Avola, Montepulciano, and Aglianico. Wild fermented with the Montepulciano and Aglianico co-fermented and Nero fermented separately, with gentle hand plunging twice daily before pressing and ageing in older oak for 3 months before bottling. A complex, tasty, food-friendly wine.
