This is a multidimensional Chardonnay with a core of​ ripe stone fruit and fragrant citrus and citrus blossom, overlaid with subtle aromas of roasted nuts, mealiness and a note of smoky gunflint. The palate is powerful, yet taught​ and fresh with a fine, slate like texture, great length and balanced fresh acidity.​​

The same grape variety grown in different sites in the same region or sub region, can demonstrate uniquely different characteristics related to those individual sites. Even if the grapes are grown by the same people, with the same care and attention, changes in soil, slope, altitude and shelter can subtly or dramatically alter the resulting wine, even over distances of a few hundred metres or less. Church Road One is a range of single vineyard wines that typify the character and personality of their best winegrowing sites.

Food Pairing: Well suited to richer seafoods such as scallops and crayfish or white meats and lighter game, especially where flavours of citrus and/or smoke are involved. ​​ This wine also is weighty enough in texture and depth to pair excellently with richer, creamy sauces.​
