Description
Oak, Plum, Spice
"Pristine and complex at once, the enticing bouquet shows dark plum, blueberry, rich floral, clove and toasted almond notes, leading to a silky-smooth palate that’s plump and rounded. Wonderfully weighted and textured with finely infused tannins, finishing impressively long and satisfying. From the Bridge Pa Triangle district. At its best: 2026 to 2041" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2023
"A powerful and direct bouquet of balck currant and smoke, baked raspberry and daker kitchen spices of clove and cinnamon, roasted plums and gravelly stone soils. The oak is a feature with a roasted nut and spices attributes. Complex and youthful overall. A delicious wine on the palate, it is powerful too with high impact from acidity and tannins yet the core is all dark fruits with plums, raspberries, and wild forest berries. As the wine opens out on the palate flavours of new leather, clove, some pepper, licorice, anise, cacao and ageing meats start to unfurl. Lengthy, complex and dry, a firm structure from tannins and acidity, youthful, powerful and certain. A wine that will easily mature in your cellar yet can also be enjoyed today with the right food. Best drinking from 2026 through 2036" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2023
"Delicious wine with fragrant floral and ripe berry characters together with a suggestion of spices (anise, black pepper and vanilla). Smooth-textured wine that promises to become even mellower with bottle age" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2024
A pure, elegant, yet powerful expression of cool climate Syrah. Rich plum and berry fruit is lifted by fragrant warm spice notes, cracked pepper and violet aromas. The palate is full bodied and supple with a long finish.
The same grape variety grown in different sites in the same region or sub region, can demonstrate uniquely different characteristics related to those individual sites. Even if the grapes are grown by the same people, with the same care and attention, changes in soil, slope, altitude and shelter can subtly or dramatically alter the resulting wine, even over distances of a few hundred metres or less. Church Road One is a range of single vineyard wines that typify the character and personality of their best winegrowing sites.
Food Pairing: Well matched to a range of meat and game, particularly grilled meats.
