A lovely expression from Côtes du Rhône

Description

Oak, Spice, Strawberry

"This is beautifully fruited and inviting on the nose, with aromas of dark plum, blueberry, rich florals, and baking spices. The palate is equally appealing with excellent weight and a plump mouthfeel, splendidly structured by grainy tannins, making it robust and sturdy with a flavoursome finish. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2026

A deep, alluring hue with violet glints, revealing remarkable concentration and elegance. The nose is immediately captivating, offering a refined aromatic complexity where the vibrant freshness of blackcurrant and cherry meets the rich maturity of plum and a hint of licorice, all gently wrapped in delicate sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is generous and full-bodied from the first sip, with a silky texture and beautifully integrated tannins. Perfectly balanced between ripe fruit, roundness and freshness, it unfolds gracefully into a long, harmonious finish with a subtle spicy lift.

For decades, the Family LAVAUD has worked to develop their familial vineyard which extends through the best terroir of Bordeaux. In 1980, family LAVAUD, already owner of two small estates in Saint-Emilion and Lalande de Pomerol, acquired an estate covering 70 hectares near the village of Pellegrue (Entre-Deux-Mers), but without a single plot of vine on it. 30 years later, nearly 90 hectares have been planted on this estate. Today, the Lavaud family manages 100 hectares on 3 different appellations.

All along the past 30 years, Hubert Lavaud has consistently invested both at the vineyard and at the cellar, making Château Les Maurins one of the most reliable château in the Entre-Deux-Mers. The production is regularly awarded at the main wine tastings.

Hubert Lavaud decided to grant exclusive distribution of his Château Les Maurins to GCF because of its worldwide distribution network. The successful cooperation is lasting since decades.

Food Pairing: Ideal partner to grilled joints of meat as well as veal or duck dishes.
