The unsung hero of McLaren Vale, crafted from old bush vine Grenache

Description

  • Bright fruit
  • Red berries
  • Concentrated
  • Savoury notes

The unsung hero of McLaren Vale, the history and tradition of the region can be enjoyed with a glass of this wine that is crafted from old bush vine Grenache. These old, low yielding vines result in small berries, thick skins and open bunches which deliver bright fruit flavours and an invigorating rustic savoury texture.

Each vineyard parcel was hand harvested and then fermented separately in open fermenters to facilitate a long slow gentle extraction. After basket pressing the free run and pressing fractions were combined together.

Above average winter rainfall was followed by a cold, wet and windy spring. A dry, and relatively warm, February to mid-April allowed for even ripening and optimal development of flavour. The resultant wines are vibrant and fresh with great natural acidity.

Food Pairing: Enjoy this Grenache with Peking duck pancakes.
