Description
“Rich, honeyed and obviously mature champagne with plenty of nutty, yeast autolysis character giving baguette and brioche notes. Absolutely delicious to taste with an appealingly creamy texture.” Bob Campbell, Master of Wine
“Aged for 11 years on lees before dégorement - there’s no mistaking the rich scents of autolysis with this Champagne, butter brioche and baked goods, crushed nut with a citrus pith note. Complex and developing. Elegant, full-bodied and very flavourful, red fleshed apple and yellow peach, a touch of arrowroot and citrus. The mousse is fine and soft; acidity holds the structure in place leading to a dry soft creamy finish. Wonderfully elegant and lengthy. A lovely drink or perfect gift, I opt for the former. Best from day of purchase through 2030” Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
Limited Edition Prestige Cuvée – Founded in Reims 1811, Champagne Charles de Cazanove is one of the oldest in the region with a glorious brand history. 100% family owned by 4th generation winemakers, the Rapenau family. Today’s wine combines tradition with modernity through two centuries of dedication to Champagne.
The 2009 vintage was an exceptional summer, dry and warm, lead to high ripeness and perfect maturity for the grapes, with balanced acidity. 2009 is undoubtedly a great vintage. Sourced only from Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. 53% Pinot Meunier from Montagne de Reims 47% Chardonnay from Côte des Blanc. Aged an incredible 11 years on yeast lees for extra complexity and richness.
Boasting a complex nose with refined white peach and citrus fruit from the Chardonnay and brioche notes and great autolytic complexity from extended time sur lie. A generous, well-structured palate, with plush fruit notes and rich texture thanks to a high level of Pinot Meunier. Low vineyard yields and respectful winemaking ensures a long, fine finish.
Food Pairing: Perfect with canapes, smoked salmon, rich seafood, mushroom risotto or soft rind cheese.
