Cerulli Spinozzi Montepulciano 2018 (Italy)
Robust structure with good fruit
Robust structure with good fruit
Description
- Plum
- Tart cherry
- Savoury herbs
- Earth
This wine has a robust structure with good fruit, medium acidity. The Montepulciano wines of Abruzzo taste like plum, tart cherry and herbs, with a definite note of earthiness.
Formed out of the merger of two properties – that of the Spinozzi family of feudal origins and that of the Cerulli Irelli family, traditionally merchants – the Cerulli Spinozzi agricultural estate as it is today dates from the beginning of the 1900’s.
Sourced from vineyards located in Canzano, Teramo. 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo were harvested by hand before being quickly taken to the winery in small carts in order not to compromise the quality and reduce oxidisation to the minimum. Careful vine management during the year together with optimum location of the vineyards guarantees the best possible quality of fruit. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 28c for appx. 10 to 15 days, the process is checked daily by the oenologist in the laboratory. At the end of the fermentation the wine rests for at least 5 months prior to bottling.
Food pairing: Ideally suited to be served with roast meats and game.
