"The 2019 Bannockburn Pinot Noir is intriguing and complex, showing notes of wild thyme and lavender on the nose. The palate is serious, structured and savoury, with red cherry, omega plum and clove notes. Black tea notes linger on the finish. Best paired with food, drink now, or cellar for later enjoyment, will show well for 10 years + from vintage" Winemaker
The Bannockburn Pinot Noir is Carrick's flagship wine, and the wine that we feel best represents the strong connection we have with our site. Known for its structure and ability to age well over a long period of time, the fruit is hand-picked from several vineyard parcels that are entirely grown on their own roots and are the oldest vines we have on the property. Now 25 years old.
The 2019 growing season was slow to start with a cold, wet spring, followed by a warmer than average summer, yields came in on average and the numerous rain events were followed by wind, resulting in fruit arriving in good condition.
Comprised of 4 different vineyard parcels, each hand-picked at optimum ripeness, the fruit was destemmed and wild fermented in tank. Spending between 22-26 days on skins, the wine was then pressed and aged in barrel for 9 months, with 17% new oak. Each barrel was hand-selected then blended together, for a further 7 months before bottling, unfined and lightly filtered.
