"Best Value of the Year, a small coop in Uruñuela in the Rioja Alta... Sancho Garcés Crianza, unbelievable and this is pure tempranillo... Fantastic Value For Money... This is 2017" Tim Atkin, Master of Wine
Medium garnet intensity, bright and clear. Sweet spices and tobacco notes. Ripe black fruit well integrated with the oak, good structure and balance. Fine ripe tannins. Silky mouth texture and long velvety finish.
Low rainfall in Winter and early budbreak. Some Winter freeze at the end of April caused some yield reduction. Occasional rains in Summer and ideal conditions in August reduced water stress in the plant and led to an early harvest in September with small berries and perfect balance.
Grapes are harvested at phenolic maturity and vinified according to Riojan tradition, cinluding pre-fermentative maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation. Aged in American oaks casks for 12 months.
Food Pairing: Ideal for legumes, rice dishes, stews, pâtés, cold cuts, cheeses and most meat dishes.
