This wine opens with lifted aromas of red berries and blackcurrant, layered with hints of violet and understated cedar spice. The palate is rich and velvety, revealing generous flavours of blood plum, dark chocolate, blueberry, and warm spice. Subtle oak toast and fine, well-integrated tannins provide structure and length.

Black Barrel are wines made from fruit from low yielding, old-vin South Australian vineyards and are traditionally vinified with small open fermenters, hand plunged before partial maturation in three hundred litre, high toast 'black barrels' for 6 months.
