Deep red in colour with bright purple hues, this wine exhibits lifted and intense aromatics, with ripe and spicy dark fruit characters of blackberry and black plum with floral notes and a touch of pepper and spice. A medium bodied and elegant wine with plenty of mid-palate weight and flesh, supple tannins and balanced acidity driving a long finish.

BUSH Syrah is an elegant and alluring expression of contemporary Australian Shiraz.  A nod to the past using traditional techniques including wild fermentation and hand plunging combines with modern winemaking finesse.  Fruit for this cooler climate shiraz was selected from a diverse range of vineyards across the Adelaide region including the Mt Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek.

The 2020 growing season started on the back of average winter rainfall in the Adelaide Hills. Late Spring to early Summer weather was ideal - warm and dry. The remainder of the ripening period through Autumn was favourable, with night-time temperatures remaining cool, daytime temperatures mild and no major heat spikes or rain events.

Harvested in the cool early morning, the fruit was destemmed with a large proportion of whole berries transferred into open fermenters. Fermented with a combination of wild and specially selected yeast strains, the parcels then spent between 7-12 dates on skins before being transferred to French oak barrels for 16 months.

BUSH Syrah has instant appeal and the necessary balance & structure to age for up to five years.
